Heaps Of Altman And Gosford Park
Thanks to Denise I have a whole heap of Gosford Park stuff to share with The REGiment.
On Sunday The Evening Standard British film awards was held in London. Robert Altman received the Best Film award for Gosford Park. The awards are in their 29th year and are only given to “homegrown” films.
Saturday’s Independent gave Gosford Park 5 out of 5 as “outstanding”, and described Richard as “the mischievous valet.” However the Sunday Mail had his correct employment enthusing him as “deliciously cast-against type Richard E Grant is a footman with wandering hands.” The reviewer, despite declaring he was dying to see the film again, gave the film 4 out of 5.
The Denise Hale award for the weirdest comment in a film review goes to Jonathan Romney of The Independent on Sunday for “Does any living actor have quite as Thirties-shaped head as Richard E Grant?”
Denise also wrote up a report of the Robert Altman Omnibus which you can read here.
Don’t forget you can see Jenny’s wonderful pics from the program on the site. Pics of REG being interviewed are here.
