Hildegarde – More
Hildegarde – a.k.a. Hildegarde: A Duck Down Under
Hildegarde is a new major Australian family feature film starring acclaimed actor Richard E. Grant (WITHNAIL AND I) and local stars Tom Long (THE DISH, TWO HANDS) and Tara Morice (STRICTLY BALLROOM).
Hildegarde will be directed by Di Drew, whose credits include THE RIGHT HAND MAN (starring Rupert Everett and Hugo Weaving) and WHIPPING BOY (starring Temuera Morrison and Sigrid Thornton), and the award-winning television series MISERY GUTS. Heather Ogilvie (DATING THE ENEMY, TURNING APRIL) and David Hannay (STONE, MAPANTSULA, GROSS MISCONDUCT) bring their considerable experience as Producers to the making of this film. Hildegarde was written by Gabrielle S. Prendegast and will also star newcomers Sam Geer, Dayne Hudson and Gezelle Byrnes as the children.
“Hildegarde is a wonderfully funny and heartwarming story. We have a terrific cast including the remarkable Richard E. Grant, three outstanding children and of course the brave and beautiful Hildegarde – all the ingredients needed to produce a magical children’s classic,” says producer Heather Ogilvie.
Hildegarde was shot on Queensland’s Gold Coast and will open in cinemas across Australia and North America in September 2001. The Australian Film Finance Corporation and Providence Entertainment (US) are co-investors in the film, with UIP set to release Hildegarde through Australia and New Zealand.”
