Richard E. Grant Appearing In The Iraq Dossier On Radio 4
Richard E Grant, along with Peter Firth (who played the head of MI5’s counter-terrorism department in ‘Spooks’) and Anton Lesser, will appear in The Iraq Dossier which will air on Radio 4 on March 2nd. The drama, written by David Morley, tells the story of government scientist Dr Brian Jones’s attempt to curb exaggeration and inaccuracy in a dossier on weapons of mass destruction that was used to justify the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
The story is compiled from the mountain of evidence submitted to the Chilcot Inquiry, Hutton Inquiry, Butler Report, House of Commons reports and what has been written in memoirs and diaries, and follows Jones, played by Richard E Grant, as he attempts to stop exaggeration and inaccuracy creeping into the document.
Using e-mails, memos and first-hand testimonies submitted as part of the Hutton Inquiry, the play goes behind the scenes at Downing Street and Whitehall to uncover the story of the controversial document that persuaded MPs to back a second Gulf War, and hardened public opinion against Saddam Hussein.
The programme airs on Radio 4 on 2nd March at 2.30pm
