Richard E. Grant To Appear In Remake Of Aussie Cult Horror Classic?
6th November, 2011
OK, well this could all end up in the “Non-Starters” category, and I will email REG to see if he knows anything about it (I couldn’t find anything else online when I checked) but TwitchFilm.com has reported that Richard E. Grant will star in the remake of Aussie cult horror classic “Patrick”, alongside Rachel Griffiths (yay!) and lead, Sharni Vinson (from Aussie soap “Home & Away”).
Of course this all depends on financing which, let’s face it, has sunk many a film project in the past. Anyhow, Todd Brown from TwitchFilm.com reports:
“While producers continue piecing together the financing for Mark (Not Quite Hollywood, Machete Maidens Unleashed) Hartley’s long gestating remake of Australian cult classic horror film Patrick, the project has taken a big step forward with some significant cast attachments.
The story of a young man, seemingly catatonic but gifted with powerful psychokinetic abilities, there is not yet word on who will play the title character but You’re Next star Sharni Vinson has been attached to play the lead role of a young nurse who cares for Patrick in hospital while Richard E Grant and Rachel Griffiths will also star as senior hospital administration.
While mainstream audiences have yet to see Vinson’s performance in You’re Next it was hailed as a star making turn here, and this will certainly be a step in that direction.”
I must say it feels a bit like deja vu, as I recall Richard being “cast” in The Surgeon about half a dozen years ago – a film which, when asked, REG had no knowledge of. That doesn’t mean that this is not a real production of course, and I will endeavor to check with REG to see if he knows anything about this one.
As always, stay tuned…
