Sue’s Withnail For Waterford
Sue W. shares some thoughts on “doing lunch” with Richard.
Don’t know if those who went to W4W noticed but inside the program after the COFA page, Dominique and the REGiment are in the thank you list. Did you see it?
It was great to see Withnail on the big screen after only being able to view it on video and to be in the 4th row was perfect. Much more fun enjoying it all as a group and pooling our funds to successfully bid on the poloroids.
Thanks Neil and Dominique for the carrots!

Now as for the lunch – the memories of which I shall always cherish, REG is… well he’s a hunk! But beyond that a charming and very disarming man. Interesting and was interested in us. For those who didn’t attend he asked all of us in turn what we did and where we were from and was slightly amazed we had come so far. Astonished that we had only met each other the night before! He gave us his undivided attention for 2 hours, answered questions, posed for pics and signed anything put before him!
In the midst of all this hoopla was very polite and thanked the waiter he spied pouring water. REG’s daughter fractured her arm the day before (the day of W4W) and yet although he could have cancelled the luncheon, he didn’t. And he left @ 2:00 to pick her up at school.
As I was furthest away from REG at the start of lunch it was impossible to see or hear what was said the first hour. I was shocked when I returned from the ladies to see him occupying the seat next to mine where he spent his remaining time. Such presence of mind to visit the other end of the table and give equal time. Glad someone was in control. He is without a doubt a very thoughtful and sincere individual who absolutely was there because he chose to be. I wish him all success in his future endeavors both professional and personal.
Tidbit: He was wearing Jo Malone Lemon and Basil and smelled delicious!
