Valued Temple Contributor In Accident
Nicola Atkin, one of our valued and long time REG Temple contributors, has been involved in a serious horse-riding accident which has almost left her paralysed.
According to Sue W, after Nikki was admitted to the hospital she was kept immobilized for a few days until her surgery, as she was suffering with a broken vertebrae. The surgery lasted 6 hours and Nikki now has two 3 inch rods in her spine.
Nikki is recovering with her parents at their home in Portugal. She will be having the staples and stitches removed in the next few days and will not be able to return to the UK before the middle of January. She is extremely fortunate that she is not paralysed.
Nikki has had a huge impact on the way The REG Temple has evolved over the years – especially very early on when The Temple was just a little pup. The contributions that Nikki has made in regards to sourcing material and organising functions can never be underestimated. It has always been Nikki’s intention to make The REG Temple the best site it could possibly be and the amount of articles, news items, interviews and pictures that she has sent Dominique and myself over the years is a testament to that. Indeed if you were to look through the news section of the site for the first few years or so you would see just how much The Temple owes to her.
From myself, Dominique, Richard and everyone else at the Temple we wish Nikki well and hope that she has a speedy recovery.
