Last Minute Engaged

December13

I think someone sent me this recent interview…..although I may have come upon it myself? If it was sent to me though I think it would’ve been via Sue W so I’m giving her the credit just in case. Anyhow, here it is…

Two big flags dominate Richard E Grant’s dressing room at the Criterion Theatre where he is currently starring in Simon Gray’s play Otherwise Engaged. One flag’s the Union Jack and perhaps the other is for Swaziland, the African country where he spent his childhood.

At 48, he’s still slim and handsome with that magnificent mane of hair, in fact, stretched out with his feet up beneath this flag he reminded me of a sleepy lion, currently relaxed and prepared to indulge me but with the potential to suddenly spring with ferocious energy. It wasn’t an atmosphere which invited small talk so I plunged straight in.

I should also add that I’m increasing the daily amount for the REG Temple book lotto from 3 games to 10…..Otherwise we’ll be here forever ;-)

Valued Temple Contributor In Accident

December11

Nicola Atkin, one of our valued and long time REG Temple contributors, has been involved in a serious horse-riding accident which has almost left her paralysed.

According to Sue W, after Nikki was admitted to the hospital she was kept immobilized for a few days until her surgery, as she was suffering with a broken vertebrae. The surgery lasted 6 hours and Nikki now has two 3 inch rods in her spine.

Nikki is recovering with her parents at their home in Portugal. She will be having the staples and stitches removed in the next few days and will not be able to return to the UK before the middle of January. She is extremely fortunate that she is not paralysed.

Nikki has had a huge impact on the way The REG Temple has evolved over the years – especially very early on when The Temple was just a little pup. The contributions that Nikki has made in regards to sourcing material and organising functions can never be underestimated. It has always been Nikki’s intention to make The REG Temple the best site it could possibly be and the amount of articles, news items, interviews and pictures that she has sent Dominique and myself over the years is a testament to that. Indeed if you were to look through the news section of the site for the first few years or so you would see just how much The Temple owes to her.

From myself, Dominique, Richard and everyone else at the Temple we wish Nikki well and hope that she has a speedy recovery.

Christmassy REG For Charity

December5

Richard E. Grant Christmas tree decoration for charity.

Buy a unique Christmas present while supporting a fantastic addiction charity. Pictured is the bird-shaped decoration on a blue background. Richard E Grant has signed the gold side of the Christmas tree hanging and decorated the gold side with black felt pen stars. He has provided a signed Card of Authenticity too. The reverse of the decoration is blank white.

The decoration is approx 11cm (high) x 19.5cm (across) and made from thin card which is gold on one side and white on the other. It was cut out and signed in 2005. The condition is good. A little bit of the gold card has worn away on the decoration but this does not detract from the design.

To check out the auction on eBay, click here.

Thanks to Sue W for the news.
