John informs us that REG features in a new fictional novel entitled THE MAN ON PLATFORM 5.

This bestselling book was written by Robert Llewellyn (Red Dwarf), and is a hilarious story about an ‘anorak’ fan-type of person. Amongst his endeavour and pursuits throughout the course of the novel is his numerous atempts to get an auotgraph from our REG who is busy filming a movie. He evenually catches up with REG in a well written and funny scenario!

Good to see that REG even turns up as fictional characters these days – such is his fame!

PS – The novel has been bought by a film studio for $1,000,000 and is currently being developed in a screenplay. Does this mean that REG will have a future movie role playing himself? We hope so!

Darth REG? REG Skywalker? It’s up to you!

I recently received news of a few rumours circulating, and endeavoured to question the lovely REG about them. One such rumour was that he was to be cast in the next Star Wars movie. He responded thus:

>> ‘Star Wars’? – if only. I am counting on you and the REG Temple to get in touch with Lucas and ensure that I finally get a gig in Australia doing Star Wars II. <<

Well…sometimes you should be careful what you wish for. The REGiment is keen to take up this challenge, and already the wonderful Robert has tracked down the addresses of the three people who might be able to put REG on a flight to Australia, complete with lightsaber.

Richard E Grant narrates this hour-long documentary charting the first man on the moon, and celebrating the year of 1969 – includes music and footage of The Beatles and Jimi Hendrix, plus interviews with cast members from Monty Python and Star Trek, amongst others, celebrating the events and culture of that groundbreaking year.

Lucky Steven reports on his recent REG sighting:

I was on the same train as REG yesterday (12 July). Me standing up in the doorway, him sitting in the seat facing. I got on at Kew Gardens, and was on the same carriage as him until Richmond, where he got off and went into the town while I changed trains and went elsewhere. Nobody else seemed to recognise him.

I thought about saying something to him, having made eye contact, but figured that he wouldn’t appreciate the invasion of privacy. I sort of regret it though. It would have been my smaller equivalent of ‘REG meets Barbara Streisand’.

For those who care about these things, he was wearing a white linen shirt open to the navel, blue & white pin-stripe trousers, and blue deck shoes.

Looked pretty suave.
